Planning a first meeting with clear expectations
Agree on a simple public meeting and keep practical choices in your own hands.
Discuss the plan together
Choose a meeting that allows you to talk and decide how you feel in person. Agree on a public place, a time and an approximate duration. A first meeting does not promise a private setting or any further activity. Confirm that both people understand the plan and feel free to decline it.
Keep practical independence
Arrange your own transport and let someone you trust know your plans. Keep the information you share proportionate to the trust you have developed. A change of venue or a request to meet privately is a new decision, not part of an earlier agreement. You can leave if you feel uncomfortable.
Leave room for a different outcome
Online chemistry may feel different in person. You do not need to continue a date to avoid disappointing someone. If you would like another meeting, say so without demanding an immediate commitment. Respect a refusal or uncertainty and give yourself time to decide what you want next.
